| Until finding FWO the only relationship manual I had significant exposure to was 'The Rules' by Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider. Has anyone tried these? I have found them very helpful--to a point. Then I also find them counterproductive, because they are hard to do and I get doubtful that they'll guide me to the marriage I want. Which is a Christ-centered state of grace. (I am still dating my Christian boyfriend--he has been longsuffering!) My relationship with God&Jesus is the source of my strength (and the strength I have to offer the relationship). Shaunti's book has been revelatory--I'm really excited. But 'The Rules' can be spiritual too. I think they may be an example of God's natural law (as described in Romans when Paul is talking about the virtuous gentiles). Shaunti's book completes the journey (as only a Christ centered text can). How do practice these two approaches? My boyfriend and I need resolution of this inner conflict! |

| Ask your pastor about specifics, but I think the Rules are good for the chase of things. Men like to be hunters, and I agree with the Rules. FWO is an eye-opening experience as well, and very important to realize those things about our men. Regarding whether the Rules or FWO will get you the marriage you want, pray. Pray for your future husband (whoever he might be) and pray for your future marriage. |
